DATABASE SUMMARY

Little is known about the postmortem microbiology in human bodies, particularly the structure of microbial communities residing within the human ecosystem and their changes during the decomposition process.

The database provides microbial data of swab samples from bodies received during routine death investigation in a major, metropolitan city’s medical examiner’s office.  The data represent microbial 16s rRNA sequences that represent the Bacteria and Archeae of the postmortem microbiome.

We are interested in collaborative research that works to improve the forensic sciences and humanity.
